Khaki shirt: how not to look like a policewoman or girl scout?

My aunt has just given me a gorgeous khaki shirt and I really want to wear it but it looks a bit plain and boring.I am 19, I adore classical style so when I imagine it with some skirt it quite reminds me of a policewoman or a scout:) The only way I see myself wearing it is with some colorful scarf... any other ideas?|||You can wear it with a scarf like you said a pair of light wash skinny jeans and some ballet flats or boots
