In the movie "Signs", what happens to the policewoman?

She just seems to disappear. Did an alien get her?|||That actress is Cherry Jones. She is the only openly gay Tony award winning actress. Her current partner is "Studio 60" actress Sarah Paulson. Jones is also well known for appearing in a 2 scene cameo with Matt Damon at the end of "Ocean's Twelve". She will later be seen on "24" this upcoming season as the first female president on the show. I think it's left to the imagination what happened to everyone else in "Signs" since the family is the focus|||I think it's safe to assume that she didn't survive. She really didn't have the option of holing up somewhere since it's her duty to protect and to serve the civilians of the town. So in my mind I imagine that she died doing just that.|||I don't think her role was very important in Signs. Perhaps the director didn't find it necessary to include her in any other scenes.
