the policewoman believed she saw the girl floating. From where she was, looking up to the window, if the girl was lay on her bed, it'd look like the girl was lay down on nothing (check the photo's on the net showing the girl being "slung" i.e. jumping, from her bed) notice the beds placement in relation to the window.
