What are the challenges and drawbacks of being a policewoman? public perception & police subculture?

None if you don't allow them. Sure, it is still a man's world, but we now have women in the army who go into combat situations. Being a policewoman is even portrayed on TV shows, so go for it and be happy is what I have to say to women who want that career.
